When the player “goes to war”, he has to place another bet on top of his original bet. If he lost the match, he loses both of his bets. It resembles the real situation, surrendering is easier than going to war but going to war presents an opportunity to win.

Let It Ride

Chances are you’re familiar with the ultimate gambling game—poker. To cover all the bases, poker is a card game where players bet on their hand ranking through a central pot. Let It Ride is the casino version of poker but instead of against other participants, it is played against the casino. The pacing is slow because the player is given a chance to retract two of three bets. Sometimes, the game is too slow for casino dealers that they call it Let It Die.

Players place three identical bets at the start of the game and get three cards that will be pooled with two community cards to make a five-poker hand. After a glimpse on their first three cards, players have an opportunity to pull out their first bet or may “let it ride”. The dealer then exposes the first community card and players have another chance to withdraw their second bet or continue with the game. Once every player has voiced out their decision, the dealer divulges the final community card and compensates any participant who has a winning payout.
